What is the Enneagram?

If only we were all born with a personalised guide to our selves; one that helped to explain what was really going on inside our heads. Something that would help us to understand why we think, feel and act the way we do. A guide to our talents: how to use them to have greater impact and how to identify our blind spots, how they can trip us up and what we can do about it.

The Enneagram does exactly this. It is a personality growth system.

It identifies 9 Types of personality, explaining why we think, feel and act the way we do. Whilst the Enneagram describes the personality (in great depth), its real power is in how it helps us to grow, providing insight to create strategies that are specific and effective for each Type.

My passion for it is driven by the impact it has had on my own life, when I discovered I was a “work in progress” Type 9. It was the first tool that made sense of the many paradoxes in my mind, and also what to do with this new knowledge.

A tool to:

  • Create self awareness.
  • Show us how we respond under pressure.
  • Enable us to flex our style and interactions with others.

What it is not:

  • A tool for labelling people.
  • A predictor of future behaviour
  • A predictor of fit to role

How I work with it?

The Enneagram is used in all my Executive Coaching helping leaders to increase their effectiveness. I run a range of training courses where the Enneagram is used to increase their effectiveness, by personalising the learnings.
